Fish Lipids Functionality in Health and Disease

Aim: This literature review discusses the roles of fish lipids in health and disease.
 Duration Location: It was done between July 2021 September 2022 by author at Department Food Science Nutrition, Karatina University, Kenya.
 Results: Adipocyte overabundance can result cholesterol plaque deposition arterial walls, which is a risk factor for diabetes, hypertension cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Cholesterol required many cellular processes its availability oligodendrocytes may be limiting brain maturation, myelination neurotransmission. The ω-3 6 fatty acids regulate metabolism, blood clotting control inflammation. They are important activity, structure function, form nerve cell membranes, insulate neurons. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), decosahexaenoic (DHA) decosapentaenoic (DPA) associated with reduced CVD, cardiac arrhythmias sudden death reducing small, dense, low-density lipoprotein (sdLDL) particles, more atherogenic hence shift some sdLDL to larger buoyant LDL particles that likely reduce CVD. EPA anti-atherosclerotic, anti-inflammatory, reduces platelet aggregation, increases vasodilation lowers plasma triglycerides. DHA necessary cognitive development visual while DPA improves lipid endothelial migration resolution chronic inflammation.
 Conclusion: Regular intake nursing or pregnant women, as child needs other parts nervous system up about 2 years age. While regular FA seems beneficial alleviation major mental-depression, further research needed better understand their related dystrophies. Also, vis-a-vis those require investigation.
